Demolition Plant Operative
The Construction Plant Certification Scheme (CPCS) recognises an individual’s skill’s gained through a practical route of experience, training and knowledge.
An operative will be required to undertake a Technical Test in their chosen category of plant. This will consist of two parts:
- a practical test of ability
- a theory test (which incorporates questions relating to underpinning knowledge, specific category and environment related H&S, and operator’s rights and responsibilities).

The NDTG has work with CPCS to develop a Demolition Plant Card for our industry. We recognise that a specific card is required due to the specialist nature of our industry.
The CPCS (A65) card in Demolition Plant covers the following activities:
- Demolish above 30m (A65D)
- Demolish up to 30m (A65C)
- Demolish up to 15m (A65B)
- Materials processing (A65A)
If your operative(s) passes the Technical Test at Endorsement D, he/she will be covered for all other endorsements below this one. This also applies to Endorsements C and B.
Once the operative(s) has passed the assessment, he/she will be issued with a Red Trained Operator Card for Category A65 stating the endorsements on the back.
Please note: the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card will be valid for 2 years, in which time the operative(s) must register and achieve the NVQ Demolition Plant Level 2 in order to upgrade to a Blue Competence Card at this category.

| Aimed at: | Operatives who currently hold either a CPCS Red or a Blue Excavator 360 Card (A59) |
