NDTG launches apprenticeship programme

In March 2010, the NDTG will be embarking on its first Apprenticeship Programme.

This will be a two year programme aimed at New Operatives in the Industry.

The Programme will introduce candidates to Demolition Specific techniques through formalised training and on site experience.

Your operative’s new skills will comply with Health & Safety legislation for new entrant training.

A CSCS Demolition Site Operative Card will be issued at the beginning of the course.

On completion of the Programme your operative will be Qualified to NVQ Level 2 in Demolition and hold a Full CCDO card (Certificate of Competence for Demolition Operatives).

Below is a list of subjects that your operative will be trained on during the formalised training days:

Use of Hand Tools
Manual Handling
Mechanical Cutting Tools
Working at Heights
Confined Spaces
Occupational Health-Noise Vibration
Fire Marshall
Asbestos Non-Licensed Course
Quick Hitch Training
Cat & Genny
PASMA (Alloy Towers)
Vehicle/ Banksman Awareness
IPAF (Scissor Lift & Boom)
Recycling and reuse of materials
Environmental and sustainability issues
Oxy Fuel Cutting
Slinging & Signalling
First Aid (3 Day Course)

These courses will be carried out over a 24 month period and will be scheduled for set days of the year. There will be a total of 23 Formalised Training Days that your operative must attend.

The NVQ will be carried out On Site by one of our Industry Experienced Assessors.
